The Land of Alagaesia is one of mystery and toil. A history is not easily spoken of.
When the Battle of the Burning Plains was finished, the Varden came out victorious.
Hrothgar, who died cheaply in the war, was buried in the tombs of dwarves. Orik was then chosen as the new leader of Durgrimst Ingeitum. Along with that, he was elected as the new Dwarven king.
Since then, The Varden had made much progress for themeselves. Recently, they left Surda, waving hands and saying thank-yous to the community, and head towards Aroughs.
Aroughs was once a bustling city of the Empire at the mouth of the Jiet River. The Varden made their attack nearly 7 years ago. The battle did not last long; The Varden had the advantage of surprise and more men. Aroughs was easily overthrown, and The Varden claimed it as their capital.
The first few years of the new city did not go well. There was famine, poverty, and crime. However, after a few years, things straightened out; People become more friendly, farms were made, welfare given. It was all well.
All was well until Nasuada was assasinated. It was a cold night, and she was returning from a visit to King Orrin of Surda. She was with 4 soldiers and two highly trained magicians of Du Vrangr Gata. A riding party of more than thirty well trained soldiers of the Empire killed them all. It was a valiant fight, and no doubt the way Nasuada would have wanted to go - fighting.
That was a gloomy time. A new leader was finally elected, named Lorath, he was a popular man. The Varden actually spurred in his control. The city grew, as did the population. Aroughs was beginning to become to crowded. Lorath knew he would have to expand.
Thus came the founding of a new city; named Grier, after Loraths' great grandfather. The city was farther up the river, though still close enough to Aroughs if they needed protection. There was a easily accesible road to Dauth and Aroughs.
Grier is now as large as Aroughs, and still growing. It is the main military outpost of The Varden. Barracks, Archery Ranges, and Training Grounds are all held there. There is a larger portion of male than female.
There are few otehr cities that Aroughs and Grier. A few settlers have created small towns nearer to the ocean, though they have not been as succesful.
-------------
Eragon Shadeslayer made his way to Helgrind, and with Roran Stronghammer, proceded to kill both Raz'ac. Eragon fought without Zar'roc, only with magic. But not before Roran was killed. One of the Raz'ac took his head before Eragon could react. Katrina killed herself soon after, jumping of the tallest spire of Helgrind.
Eragon was agered that he had failed, and that his only remaining family member was now gone. But he knew that it could not stop him.
He traveled to Du Weldenvarden, to find Oromis and Glaedr still waiting for him. Spahira continued her training, as did Eragon.
Eragon fell for Arya, and Arya continued to push him away. Eragon never got the chance to marry Arya. She now sits at her forgery in Ellesmera, continually making blue swords for no purpouse. She never gives tehm to anyone, she simply burns them and reforges them over and over again. For no apparent purpouse.
All was well
All was well until Oromis died. His condition finally killed him. Before he died however, he told Eragon of a strange power, The Vault of Souls, and Oromis told him where it was.
Eragon then rememebred those words that Solembum had given him. He had to go to Doru Areaba and open the Vault of Souls. Though before he went, he went to the Menoa Tree, seeking a weapon under it's roots.
Linnea burst forth from the tree and told him he must travel to the elven family in Osilon and retrieve Brom's sword. The elven family were relatives of Linnea herself. Roots of the Menoa Tree.
Eragon rode Saphira to Osilon, and found the family of Linnea. They were hesitant to reprieve Brom's sword, but they finally gave through. The sword was the same hue as the scales on Saphira. There was a gargantuan blue diamond in the hilt, and a inscription on the blade, reading:
"Atra esterení ono thelduin eka atra ono waíse vardo fra rauthr wiol ono hávr un vrangr wydra" - May good fortune rule over you and may you be warded from misfortune, for you have a wandering fate".
Eragon then flew to Doru Areaba, and came upon the Vault of Souls. Eragon could feel the tension and ancientness of the Vault. He whispered the words that Oromis told him to say. A door opened, and led him towards a small pile of color.
Dragon Eggs.
Eragon took the eggs to the Varden. There, Lorath tried and tried to get them to hatch, but not one did.
---------------
Galbatorix was still on his evil throne, and Murtagh had become even more trained and powerful. They had trained for hours upon hours, days upon days.
Galbatorix felt a disturbance. The Vault of Souls had been opened. Galbatorix ordered Murtagh and Thorn to find Eragon, for the evil king knew that he was the one who had opened it.
Murtagh had finally discovered that the eggs were already at The Varden. Murtagh knew he had to attack Aroughs. He just hoped that the eggs had not yet hatched.
In the midst of a night, Murtagh stepped quietly into the city, right past the guards. Thorn was far away, but ready to come at Murtagh's command. He found the castle that the royalty slept and lingered in. It was heavily guarded, so Murtagh attacked.
He killed every guard there was. Babies cried, mothers gasped and rocked, and men grabbed their swords to defend their families. Murtagh's eyes glinted with power.
Eragon awoke from his sleep, as did Saphira, to find that the city was under atttack by an extremly powerful source. That night, Eragon died. Murtagh killed him the same way he had killed Hrothgar, not even giving him a chance. The eggs were hidden, but not to Saphira.
Lorath killed Murtagh later in the night. No one had known that the king was competent in magic. But he was, and he killed Murtagh, smoting him square in the chest. Murtagh was dead.
Saphira was enraged. She was pouring with tears, Eragon, Eragon, was dead. She made her way to the chamber where the eggs were held. She snorted fire at the many guards, and bent the strong metal doors with her rage.
Inside, she crushed every last egg to pieces. Not caring about anything, she just continued to smash, tears flying everywhere.
Sadly, Lorath was killed. A group of elite Empire assassins killed him on his way back from the King in Surda. Many Vardenites wonder who the next leader will be. Though a new one is rising.
---------
The elves were in dismay. Their only Rider, Eragon had died. Lorath was starting to go insane, and the Varden was in chaos. Islanzadi was dead.
It happened 3 days before ERagon and Murtagh had their war. Islanzadi was very old, and she had been poisoned. The poison was traced, traced very fast.
The poison was traced to Vanir. Vanir had poisoned the elf Queen because he wanted a dragon, and he would not die without one. The elves were amazingly mad for their race, and they did something that elves had never done before.
Vanir was executed.
The elves last rider, thier only resort, was Tanier. Tanier was trained by Oromis long before Eragon came into existance. He had flown eastward with his dragon Drualar, a red dragon. Oly now has he returned, ready toi train all Riders against the Empire, or at least the ones who are not for the Empire
----------------------
The elves are no longer friends of the Varden. They borke off from them without the Varden knowing. The Varden still do not know, and that is a large disadvantage to them.
The races of Alageasia are now broken. Few alliances still exist, very few. The few that are known are Dwarves and Elves, and a small one at that. The new one is emerging: Varden and Kull tribes.
---------------
That is all over now. Saphira is gone, she flew with Thorn across the ocean to find a new life.
There are five dragon eggs known dragon eggs, however. 10 more still reside in Alageasia
- One still in possesion of Galbatorix. - One that was taken from the Varden's vault before Saphira was able to get there. - One found by the elves in the far reaches of the Du Weldenvarden - One found by an independent figure in the Hadarac
The other's are in the far reaches of Surda, 3 in the Hadarac waiting to be found, some in Du Weldenvarden, and the rest hidden in the Empire and Varden.
----------------- Recently, three new eggs were found. The Empire had found one, The Varden, one was found independently, and one for the Elves. The four new Riders were Lilliphilia, Strykur, Trinity, and Vanyali.
